There are few better places for a family photoshoot than the tropical surroundings of Palm Cove, Far North Queensland. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Kristy and her family at Sea Temple Palm Cove, creating a collection of relaxed, natural family portraits that captured their time together in one of Cairns’ most beautiful holiday destinations.

One of the most important parts of a family photoshoot is making everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera.

I don’t believe every photograph needs to be perfectly posed. Some of the most memorable family photographs happen when children are laughing, parents are interacting with them or everyone simply forgets that the camera is there.

My approach as a Cairns family photographer is therefore a combination of gentle direction and candid photography. I’ll provide guidance when needed, while also allowing the family to interact naturally.
